The president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, and some cabinet ministers of the ruling government have joined millions of Ghanaians to jubilate over Ghana’s dramatic qualification to the World Cup.

Ghana held Nigeria to a 1-1 scoreline in Abuja in front of a mammoth crowd at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

Arsenal’s Thomas Partey fired a powerful shot from outside the penalty and surprisingly it sneaked under the hands of Nigeria’s keeper Francis Uzoho and went straight into the net in the 11th minute.

Nigeria responded immediately to the first goal and they got a penalty in the 19th minute after Ademola Lookman was brought down by Dennis Odoi and the resultant penalty was converted by Captain William Troost-Ekong.

Ghana held their nerves and kept the Super Eagles at bay till the referee blew his final whistle for the end of the match prompting Ghanaians to burst into unrestrained jubilations.
